CAA News
Greetings CAA™ Users:

Welcome to the first installment of CAA™ News! In this issue we will review the 2006 Vision Conference and CAA updates.
Vision Conference ......................
This year's Vision Conference was held at the Hard Rock Hotel, on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, September 14-15, 2006. We had a nice turnout, a productive meeting, a great meal and lake cruise aboard the Odyssey. Next year's conference will be held September 20-21, 2007. Save the date!

Users had one-on-one time with Chairman Steve Weiland, Bill Andrules, Director of Programming and Development, Geoff Wilson, Systems Support Manager and Don Enright, Director of Sales. Pat Weiland opened the day with introductions. Users networked and got real face time with Weiland staff, asking questions and expanding their knowledge base of CAA. Following are some topics covered at this years' conference:
CAA™ Release 3, the updates: ...............

Effective Dating of Standard Pricing, Price History
  • All pricing within the 3.03 version of CAA™ and newer has been modified to support effective dating. A user can create a new instance of a service record with a new effective date. These service records will form a service price history for each bank service code.

  • Account Level Contract Pricing
  • With effective dates controlling bank standard pricing, an account can now be coded for contract pricing. By setting an effective date at the account level for a pricing contract, the system will maintain that pricing (using bank service price history) for the account under contract even though the bank standard pricing may be updated over time.

  • Variable Rate Management (Interest Credits)
  • A Variable Rate Management Sub-System (VRM) has been incorporated into the CAA™ application. VRM is a generic rate management system designed to store rate information by effective date for any purpose. VRM supports an unlimited number of rate codes, tiered rates, effective dating of rates, and complete rate history. VRM rate codes can be used to assign rates at the bank, rate class, or account levels throughout CAA. Currently, VRM has been integrated into CAA™’s capacity to pay a hard interest credit on excess account balances. Note: Analysis accounts that do not use a balance offset for fee compensation have their entire balance available for interest credit calculations.

  • R44: Account Exceptions Detail Report
  • This new report has been designed to provide detailed information regarding account level exceptions that exist in the database. There are numerous exceptional situations an account could be a part of and the design of this report is to basically present which accounts are using specific (non-standard values) for various rates and options. The accounts are presented within exception reason. The user (via report design options) can decide which exception reasons to include on a particular report. The account records now contain expiration dates for all account level overrides and the exception reasons are broken into.

    Account Level Overrides For:
  • Float Factor
  • Legal Reserve Rate
  • Bank Reserve Rate
  • Interest Credit Rate
  • Premium / Discount on Analyzed Charges Due Rate
  • Premium / Discount on Fee Based Charges Due Rate
  • Earnings Credit Rate
  • Deficiency Rate

  • Account Level Use Of:
  • Contract Pricing
  • Expired Contract Pricing

  • R45: Service Volume Usage Analysis Report & Graph
  • This new report focuses on volume based services and is designed to show the total volume billed and the resulting revenue at each price point for each service. The report further breaks down services by service status code (a waived service at 1.75 per/unit would generate a separate line from an analyzed / charged service at 1.75 per/unit.This report includes only volume based services; Type 2-Volume Discounting, Type 5-Threshold Pricing, Type 7-Balance Limit Thresholds, and Type 9-Volume Based Flat Charges. This report requires a time period to report on.

  • TWIST Effort: BSB
    .......................
Steve Weiland spoke about the effort to establish and produce a standard for global electronic analysis statements, similar to the U.S. 822. In the near future, banks all over the globe will be providing international corporations with the global electronic billing statement known as the "BSB", that includes regional taxes, charges w/explanations and currency translations. The revolution has begun, coming to your bank soon! Read more about the effort at the TWIST website and the Weiland solution, BXB™.
Our Guest Speaker: Larry Marks ..............
Larry Marks, from Marks & Associates, gave a provocative presentation on "Presenting Your Ideas to Upper Management". Throughout the remainder of the conference, attendees fondly referred back to his comments!
